Service – Animal Rights Faculty

Since most of us are not able to complete their regular voluntary service, many people decided to join the Animal Rights Faculty. We hold our meeting online on a platform MS Teams and talk about the most pressing matters when it comes to endangered species or disturbed rights of animals. During this meeting we discussed the situation of pandas in China. They are crucial for the environment of the forests in that part of the world and fortunately have been recently upgraded from the status „endangered” to „vulnerable” as the population has finally started growing after years of downturn.

Action – Basketball Trainings

During this training we already started some more demanding exercises, also in the meaning of stamina. To check how is our performance after this break, our coach asked us to score as many points in given time as we can and he have then written them down. Then we also competed in our small group who will score earlier established number of points first. Even though I have trained throwing while I was at home from time to time, I could really feel that I have gone a bit out of practice during this two months. But now I am really happy to be back and look forward to regaining my form from before.

Creativity – Drops

The second topic I was exploring in my Hebrew lessons was food. I have to admit that at first I picked this particular topic randomly, but have really enjoyed doing it. Learning whole words turned out to be much easier and fun that learning the alphabet. I can actually say that I have memorised many of the foody objects that were mentioned. However, I still have problems with the writing part due to the difference in letters. This is why I have decided to start a notebook and write down every word I learn in the app using Hebrew spelling.

Action – Basketball Trainings

After lifting up some restrictions, I have finally been able to come back to regular basketball trainings two times a week. My club, Warsaw Basketball, decided to organise trainings in small groups up to 6 people and with everyone having their own ball, and disinfecting the hands at the beginning, and end of each training. On our first training we focused on practicing the free throw and throws from shorter distance in general. I think that this was a great choice after a long pause, so we can get back in our form gradually and not start off really intensively.

Creativity – Drops

Recently I have taken up new activity for my Creativity, I have decided to learn Hebrew via application Drops. Every day I have a 5 minute session and can explore different new topics or practice the ones already started. I find this app very helpful and well made. The exercises are getting gradually harder to complete, but they develop many aspects of the language at the same time. Each new word is written in Hebrew from the start and has a picture attached to it. Therefore, it is easier to match the meaning with the sound and the visual look of the word. Here I started learning the first part of Hebrew alphabet and I have to say that this is really challenging as the letters are completely different from the latin ones. Yet, after some practice I started making improvements.

Service – Coronavirus Pandemic

Unfortunately due to coronavirus pandemic outbreak, my both voluntary services, Children’s Hospital of Warsaw Medical University and Children’s University, have been suspended. Therefore I was not able to complete any Service since the middle of March and have not posted new Service updates. For now I am not sure when I will be able to come back to my regular voluntary work at any of these foundations.

Creativity – Drawing

In the matter of my CAS drawing I am still exploring the topic of faces. However, this time I have also decided to add a human’s hand in my work. Drawing hands is also a very demanding skill and here I wanted to brush it up too. Similarly to the previous ones, this piece has its proportions also based on a photo. To achieve different effect I have drawn this one on black paper and later traced the contours with white gel pen.

Activity – Home Exercises

Due to the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic my basketball training and Girls League have been suspended. Therefore, I stared regularly exercising at home. I run on an elliptical trainer, ride on a stationary bike and do press-ups, crouches, crunches, planks or other similar exercises. When it comes to running I try to do 5 km at least five times a week. Usually, I also try to do it in no less than 23 minutes.
