This time we took into consideration the matter of African wild dogs. The situation of these animals is critical as there are less than 1500 mature individuals left. This makes African wild dogs one of the Earth’s most endangered species. Their populations can only be spotted in limited localisations nowadays. It is vital that we educate people and raise their awareness to the huge problem these animals are facing now.

Since the TEDx event was impossible to conduct during the coronavirus pandemic, me and my friend have decided to change our CAS Project to a different one. We wanted to do something connected to Creativity and agreed on doing a legal graffiti. There are plenty of places in Warsaw where it is possible to legally paint your own artworks. In the first stage of our project we chose a place and planned a theme of our graffiti. We also made some preliminary sketches for this project. Because the pandemic is still lasting, we wanted the graffiti to be somehow connected to the topic, but we also wanted it to relate to Warsaw as a city. Therefore, we decided on doing a mermaid, being the symbol of Warsaw, and we wanted her to wear a doctor’s gown, as a symbol of the priceless work the health service is doing in the present times.

This time our opponent was Aces. For us to be able to make our way into the finals, it was also vital we won this game. Fortunately it all went well, we managed to win and in good style, having a solid advantage. This kind of victory really raised the spirits on our team and gave us the boost we needed. We were cooperating really good as a team this time. Besides, this being our second victory gives us the opportunity to play judiciously and not desperate in the upcoming games.

Because my friend was having her eighteenth birthday and some time ago she mentioned she wanted to get herself a poster of Budda, I have decided to undertake this project. Because I am not really good with brush-painting and do not do graphic design, I chose to use a stencil and spray paint as my artistic tools. First I have made a sketch of Buddha, but simplifying him to only the most important elements, so the stencil would be easier to cut out, but still have an obvious look. Before I spray painted my stencil, I made the background by dipping my brushes in paint and splashing it all over the piece of paper that was to become the poster. It was supposed to be a bit messy, so the Buddha in the centre would even it out later. The Buddha, as I have mentioned before, was spray painted. I used colours that are related for me to space and are quite calming, so they would mirror the peaceful soul of the character.

After our last loss with Fever, we really had to make it up this time with Liberty. I am happy to say that we managed to win, but it was definitely not an easy one. Practically from the beginning we started to lose, and we kept being those few points behind up until the final quarter. Yet, in the fourth quarter we managed to top our opponents by a few points, and therefore, provided ourselves with an important win. During this game the squad finally „clicked” and it showed.

For my Creativity part I continue to master drawing faces from the photos, but this time I also allowed myself to do a colour change. As I have done before in some of my works, I decided to experiment a bit with the colour palette and go a little wild. Though practicing the face drawings is my main goal here, colouring is also bringing me much joy and allows me to unleash my imagination more, as there are no rules to what can have which colour.

Since I was not able to play last season due to the coronavirus, I had to be drafted again and ended up in a new team, Mercury. Because it is a small league and we all know each other, and have played with each other many times before, the transition was smooth and not a problem. Although it was a bit strange to play against a team I was once in, as our first game was against Fever. This match we unfortunately lost, but since it was our first in the season and there were some squad changes, we just need time to learn to cooperate better. Apart from that, we have a few players, including myself, that had a longer brake from basketball and are only coming back to their shape. Still, I am hopeful that with a team like this we can make it to the finals this season. But even if we do not, it is still really good to be back to training and playing, I missed this sport and the people during these few months. Besides it is all about playing and getting better, not always winning.

As I have been doing for some time now, for my Creativity part I continue to practise the drawing of faces. Similarly to my previous works, this one was based on a photo, so it would be easier for me to reflect the adequate proportions. Yet, I have slightly modified it on my drawing and added a few details, like the earring.

During this meeting we discussed the situation of seals, harbour seals to be precise. They are one of the three species of seals that are present in Poland. Unfortunately its population is gradually diminishing and so they are under strict protection. It is also illegal to starte those animals or bother them in any way.
