Creativity – Drawing

This time for my creative activity I have decided to experiment with drawing a chameleon. I used the simplest, and my favourite, technique – pencil. I was always interested by reptiles and enjoyed reading about them and watching them. Chameleons I find especially interesting. Their eyes are incredible. Drawing is a great medium to explore these lizards more, as to make a precise work it is vital to pay attention to every detail. For my drawing is a great way to exploration and it helps me notice details I have otherwise omitted.

CAS Project – TEDx Designer

My group was supposed to estimate the price of gadgets for pur TEDx event. We needed to evaluate an approximate cost that we will spend on notebooks, pens and bags prepared especially for the occasion. This means that the gadgets are also marked with our event’s logo. We have prepared the estimated costs table in the Excel program. It was very vital to make such table, because the team that seeks sponsors must know what costs it may generate.

The topic of this time’s lecture concerned different types of games that appear around the world. Kids were there to learn how their peers in other countries play. They have also discussed why children need to play and agreed that the basic reason for this does not differ across the world. Playing is simply a form of development in all areas of life. Kids were also shown toys from different countries and compared them to what we have in Poland or in Europe generally. I was there to assist during the lecture and provide help if needed. Apart from that I have also checked the lists with other volunteers and we arranged our stand.

Action – Girls League

Liberty was our first opponent in this brand new season of Girls League. Because the teams were all new, we did not know exactly, despite having some idea regarding the players, what to expect. Though it turned out very positive for our team as we won. Apart from that, because we won with quite significant difference of 21 points, we got the first place in the table. This is really a dream beginning of a new season. Yet, we cannot get distracted, because there are still five games remaining until finals and it is our job to make it work the best we can.

Creativity – Drawing

Recently, while I was scrolling through some images on the internet, I came across a picture of Simba, from the Disney’s production The Lion King. It got me inspired and I thought that maybe I will do a drawing related to that topic. I made an inscription „hakuna matata”, which means „no worries”. In the centre I have drawn Simba with a leafy mane which appeared on the movie. I surrounded the whole image with some leaves, to give it more jungle-like style. Firstly I have drawn the whole thing with a pencil and then I filled in with some colours.

On our last TEDx meeting we gathered the whole organisation team, not only the leaders. We were to decide over some speakers and also discuss sponsors. Apart from that we had caught up with all our current issues. Until next meeting my two-person group needs to prepare a brief budget for the TEDx gadgets, such as pens, notebooks or bags. The other teams also need to perform their tasks. Soon we will be probably sending invitations to our guests. We want to be sure that we will have interesting people giving their speeches, so all of our audience can benefit and develop from them.

This time we’ve got to make pictures for a „colouring wall”. We were redrawing some designs that are later hung for kids to colour. Right now different animals, including some dinosaurs, are a popular design for those drawings. I was tracing a flamingo in a scarf, a happy giraffe and a t-rex with a cylinder hat. The whole job of redrawing images for colouring is a really relaxing process and is not quite demanding. Yet, it is great to see that children later colour those designs and have fun with that, unleashing their creativity by the way.

Action – Girls League Training

As I have mentioned in the previous action post, the Girls League has had a major rearrangement. We have all decided that we are in need of a change after four seasons and want to build teams from scratch. Therefore we have all gone to the draft, the presentation of your skills and the creation of new teams. We have also got new team names, Aces, Fever, LIberty and Mercury. As in the previous seasons they all are abbreviated forms of WNBA team names. This time I got to play in Fever. We have had our first training together and it went really well. Most of us already knows each other, so we can easily cooperate. When you already played with someone on the team sometime ago, you already know how the person plays, so the teamwork is better. We also practiced our new tactics for the upcoming season. Although I will have a sentiment for Mystics, I am really looking forward to this season.
